Committee Goals

After reviewing important dates, Brother Dani tasked execs to bring snacks to meetings and their respective events. She reviewed goals for committees and urged brothers to utilize other committees to help with events. She would like the committees to work together and delegate tasks to the proper committee (i.e. Finance for funding information, Marketing for event advertising, etc.).

Chapter Communication

Brother Dani also presented the new way of chapter communication. She is asking brothers to refrain from sending out mass e-mails in order to cut down on email traffic. Instead, all announcements and anything brothers would like to communicate to the chapter should be sent to Brother Amy, who has graciously volunteered to create a Weekly Update letter, which will be sent out on Mondays along with the minutes. Any information brothers would like to have added in the Weekly Update must be communicated to Amy by Friday and will be included in the update that following Monday.

Other Information

Brother Dani asked for brothers to notify her about any absences so brothers will be excused from meetings rather than counted as a “no-show.” She is looking forward to a great semester with DSP and encouraged brothers to get involved as much as possible, including becoming involved outside their committees.

SENIOR VICE-PRESIDENT

Brother Janet reiterated the dates for this week’s MTC events and asked brothers to attend and show their support. Sign-up sheets were passed around for the recruitment table, Buffalo Wild Wings, and the Open House. Empty slots for the recruitment table still need to be filled and it’s very important for brothers to contact Brother Janet and let her know when they are able to help with recruiting. Also, Brother Dani asked brothers to wear DSP attire during the week, to help with passing out bookmarks, and to be sure to greet all potentials at MTC events.

For any brother who is working the last shift on Friday, Brother Janet and Brother Dani asked for that brother to take the DSP bag with them so it would be available for Sunday’s meeting.

Open House

Brother Jana explained information about the MTC Open House event, which will be held this Wednesday in UC 116 from 3:00 to 6:00pm. The idea is to have brothers stationed at each table. Potentials will be seated at a table and will have the opportunity to talk with brothers while they eat the free Chipotle (thanks to Brother Robert). Overall, the more brothers, the better. So be there!

Alumni BBQ

Brother Janet needs to set on a location for the BBQ ASAP. She asked if any brothers wanted to volunteer their homes to contact her. Brother Shell volunteered to contact alumni for possible locations as well.

VICE-PRESIDENT CHAPTER OPERATIONS

Brother Jaclyn presented a CMP Status update. Currently, the chapter is 48% completed and approved for Accredited Chapter (1st tier) requirements. 100% of 1st tier requirements must be met before the chapter qualifies for 2nd tier – Chapter of Recognition. However, because of last semester’s events, requirements towards achieving the 2nd tier are 41% completed and approved.

Brother Jaclyn shared a letter published in the November 09 issue of the DeltaSig written by Grand President Mike Chiacchiari entitled, “Leave Delta Sigma Pi Better than You Found It.” After reading excerpts from the letter, Brother Jaclyn handed out a questionnaire to the brothers asking them to identify focus areas and goals for the chapter.

Next, Brother Jaclyn presented the possibility of having Sandy Shoemaker, a past DD and current trustee for the Leadership Foundation, to come visit the chapter and make a presentation about Ms. Shoemaker’s life as an alumni and how she stays involved with the fraternity. Brother Jaclyn mentioned opening the event to other chapters in Colorado, to include alumni chapters. Brother Alex will find out interests of other chapters in hosting an event with us.

Graduation Sashes

Brother Jenna will be taking orders for sashes, provided by the Hawaii chapter. Please contact her if you are graduating and wish to buy a sash.

VICE-PRESIDENT FINANCE

Dues are due February 14!

Dues are $85. Brother Jenna urged brothers to turn in their dues as soon as possible before February 14. After February 14, a $10 late fee will be assessed for each week your payment is late.

VICE-PRESIDENT FUNDRAISING

Brother Natalie presented several fundraising ideas, to include:

  • • Selling hand-warmers/snack during the 3OH!3 concert being held at Four   Diamonds on April 22.
  • • Selling Roses.
  • • Hosting a Poker/Casino night for alumni.
  • • Alumni dinners.
  • • Car wash.

An interest sheet was passed around. Brother Natalie also encouraged brothers to contribute any of their ideas or suggestions for fundraising events.

VICE-PRESIDENT SCHOLARSHIPS/AWARDS

Brother DeEon passed out sheets outlining the Six Sigma Goals. He noted the achievement towards the goals is based on attendance. Brother Dani also commented that the attendance information from Six Sigma will serve as the basis for putting brothers on trial. A clarification was made that putting brothers on trial does not mean kicking them out of the fraternity, but is a means of getting brothers to have an opportunity to speak with the President and Vice-President about his/her attendance issues.
